Kumeyaay Creation Story by Ted Couro in ‘Iipay Aa
This is a short story about the creation, of the type told at funerals, narrated by Ted Couro in ‘Iipay Aa, the Mesa Grande dialect of the Kumeyaay language. Another version of this story appears in Florence Shipek’s Memorial to Ted Couro, in which the Creator tells people, “This dead person is already gone… Tomorrow, it may be you.”
