Saturday, September 16, 2017 is International Coastal Cleanup Day.
The Friends of Rose Creek and I Love A Clean San Diego will be hosting a cleanup along Rose Creek in Pacific Beach. Last year we had 140 people who collected 4,740 pounds of trash. Let’s do better this year.
Reduce waste at this year’s cleanup by bringing along your own wagons and buckets, work gloves, and reusable water bottle. Many of our sites strive to be “zero waste” this year and you can help them!
We collect valuable data from all of our cleanup sites during Coastal Cleanup Day! This data helps us understand how we can better prevent litter. Instead of using paper data cards, download Ocean Conservancy’s new mobile data collection app, Clean Swell! Available on iPhone and Android devices!
Click here to register. Pre-registering helps us make sure we have plenty of healthy snacks for our volunteers and of course, plenty of ice cream.

Join the Friends of Rose Creek, I Love A Clean San Diego and the San Diego County Bike Coalition as we search Rose Creek and environs for trash to take to the dump. Meet at Mission Bay High School, located at 2475 Grand Avenue, San Diego, CA 92109. Wear closed toe shoes, long pants and long sleeves. A hat is a great idea.
Pre-register online so we can get an estimated head count for Ice Cream and other supplies. Download the event waiver here.
All participants under 18 will need to have a parent or guardian sign. Or just come down to Mission Bay High School about 8:45 AM on Saturday, April 23. We’ll be in the Faculty Parking Lot on the east side of campus overlooking Rose Creek and you can sign up on the spot! Plenty of overflow parking is available in the Student Lot on the west side of campus at the corner of Lee Street and Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach.
Bling Your Bucket Contest
We’ll have snacks, prizes, and all the kidz who shows up can participate in the Bling Your Bucket contest. Decorate those buckets, wheel barrows and wagons before you come. Reusable is the message we are trying to promote. Participate in the Bling Your Bucket contest to minimize the use of trash bags. We’re here to get rid of trash – not create more of it.
