A huge thank you to our 130 volunteers who picked up 1,060 pounds of trash and 80 pounds of recyclables along one and a half miles of Rose Creek. From De Anza Point at the south end of the creek to where the creek crosses under Interstate 5, volunteers picked up cigarette butts by the thousands, plastic straws, food wrappers, lighters, tires, credit cards, shopping carts, hundreds of unused syringes and a lizard in a Naranja bottle.
The lizard has moved on to its new home at I Love A Clean San Diego where it will be showcased at various meetings proving to one and all why we spent our Saturday picking up trash.
At the end of the cleanup, volunteers were treated to Haagan Daz ice cream bars courtesy of Campland on the Bay.
Our scout troops were out in force and showing their true colors in improving their communtiy. If you haven’t signed up for your scout badge yet, click here.
Over 8,000 San Diego County volunteers at 106 separate sites picked up over 200,000 pounds of trash and our neighbors in La Playa just south of the border joined in with impressive amounts of trash as well.
Thank you I Love A Clean San Diego for all your service and support to creating a cleaner San Diego.
