October Guided Bird Walk along Rose Creek
October 19, 2024 - 4:15 PM to 6:15 PM
Pacific Beach
Join the Friends of Rose Creek for a free guided bird walk along the Rose Creek Salt Marsh & Estuary. Stay for as long or as short as you wish. We usually have the best bird sightings around sunset!
Sunset is at 6:10 PM and low tide at 5:35 PM so the wading birds should be out in force.
ROSE CREEK is a birding hot spot in the north east corner of Mission Bay. Check out the latest sightings on eBird. A treasure in Pacific Beach, the creek and salt marsh is popular with Bikers on the East side, a quiet, shaded walking path on the West side.
Come join us as we seek out our year-round residents of Great Blue Heron, Snowy Egret, Osprey and the ever present American Coots. Who knows what else we will see. Maybe even a Green Heron or Kingfisher.
Kyle will be our guide this month. Meet at Mission Bay High School. FACULTY PARKING Lot along Rose Creek, off Grand Ave. If you can see Download Kyle’s bird list ahead of time and see how many birds on the list you spot.
Bring binoculars if you have them, good walking shoes and check the weather before you come. Our guide will have a scope to help us see the birds closeup and personal. Rain cancels.
DO NOT TURN ON LEE STREET!!! The parking lot is at the east end of campus on Grand Avenue overlooking the creek. There is an unlocked gate on the parking lot.
