The Balboa Avenue Station Area Specific Plan (and the Morena Corridor Specific Plan) will be heard as an action item before the full City Council on Thursday, August 1st at 1 PM. Please plan on arriving at 12:30 PM if you need talking points from the Friends of Rose Creek on why park dedication for the Pacific Beach portion of Rose Creek must be a condition of approval of the Balboa Avenue Station Area Specific Plan!
Help Make Rose Creek a Park
Call and email Councilmember Jennifer Campbell (D2)
(619-236-6622 firstname.lastname@example.org and cc email@example.com) and ask her to include the following conditions in any motion to approve the Balboa Avenue Station Area Specific Plan scheduled to go before City Council on Aug. 1st @ 1 p.m.
• Dedicate as park, the City owned parcels of Rose Creek situated in the Mission Bay Park Improvement Fund Zone (San Diego Charter section 55.2 subsection a.4)
• Direct City Staff to including funding for a Community Facilities District (CFD) in the Infrastructure Financing Study that will come out after approval of the BASASP. The CFD would be use to provide maintenance and operations for the new park.
• Attend the City Council meeting on August 1st @ 1 p.m. and share your reasons for wanting Rose Creek to be a park or cede time to the Friends of Rose Creek. The meeting takes place at San Diego City Hall, 12th floor –202 “C” Street – San Diego 92101.
Then email and/or call the entire City Council
Call all City of San Diego Councilmembers and let them know that that approval of the Balboa Avenue Station Area Specific Plan must include park dedication for portion of Rose Creek within the Mission Bay Park Improvement Fund Zone.
