The Rose Creek Bikeway is a SANDAG project to create improved linkages from the Rose Canyon Bike Trail at the north end of Santa Fe Street (near Karl Strauss Brewery) and the Rose Creek Bike Path at Mission Bay Drive. This project is part of SANDAG’s Coastal Rail Trail program.
One of the perks of this project is that it intends to create a crossing under Interstate 5 and under Mission Bay Drive. The section south of the Santa Fe Street/Rose Creek Crossing to Mission Bay Drive would be near the creek and allow more users to enjoy the many wonders of Rose Creek.
Portions of the Rose Creek Bikeway will be a Class I bike path (completely separated from vehicle traffic) that connects existing sections of the Rose Canyon and Rose Creek bike paths in the City of San Diego. View the map.
Construction activities are on-going as part of the Construction Manager/General Contractor agreement between SANDAG and Mid-Coast Transit Constructors to build the Rose Creek Bikeway in conjunction with the Mid-Coast Trolley project.
This project fills an approximately two-mile gap in the San Diego Regional Bike Network, and will connect with existing segments of the Rose Creek and Rose Canyon Bike Paths in the City of San Diego. Design, engineering, and construction of the Rose Creek Bikeway are funded by federal, state, and local funds, including the regional TransNet half-cent sales tax for transportation administered by SANDAG.
