San Diego Earth Fair postponed to September 13

NOTICE: EarthFair Rescheduled for Sept 13

 

As a consequence of the current coronavirus pandemic, San Diego EarthWorks has rescheduled EarthFair 2020 from April 19 to September 13, 2020.

 

This aligns with medical advice that the virus is best controlled by eliminating large gatherings of individuals, and California Governor Gavin Newsom’s statement that all public gatherings should be canceled until at least the end of March.

 

After 30 years of producing the largest 1-day event held in Balboa Park, having to postpone the Earth Day celebration is a shock to the entire EarthFair community.

“While is unfortunate to miss our 30th anniversary event at its traditional date in April, public health and safety are of paramount importance,” said Carolyn Chase, San Diego EarthWorks CEO. “We will hold the event only when and if it is safe for full public participation. It serves us well to remember the slogan from our first EarthFair in 1990: Every Day is Earth Day!”

 

At the time of this reschedule, EarthFair already had 170 exhibitors and more than 130 volunteers. EarthWorks will shortly be contacting current exhibitors, volunteers and sponsors about moving their participation to the new date.

 

As a supplement to the rescheduled event, EarthWorks is now planning an “E-EarthFair,” an on-line forum that will feature the sustainable products, service and causes of EarthFair exhibitors. This forum is expected to premier during Earth Week, beginning on April 19.
